What Is The Best Way To Combat After Facial Redness

after facial redness

You’ve just received a rejuvenating facial from our medspa.  Whether it was B-Peel, C-Peel, or popular Water Jet Peel, you want to ensure that you keep reaping the benefits of the facial peel long after you leave your session.

So what does it take to keep nurturing your skin after a facial? We always talk about the benefits of receiving a facial, but not about what the aftercare is like or what happens to your skin when it’s over. Do you know what you should and shouldn’t do and what can you do to help with the redness that may occur afterward?

If not, you’ve come to the right blog! Today’s article is all about what happens after the facial, how to combat after facial redness and what to do to continue having bright, beautiful, and glowing skin.

Day 1: Immediately After A Facial

Even though most facials are gentle, they still penetrate and exfoliate the skin.  Because of the facial process, there is going to be some facial redness and tenderness.

The redness should start to fade within a few hours as your skin starts to calm down.

You’ll also want to stay out of direct sunlight. Your skin is more sensitive at this time and will be more prone to sun damage and sunburn. If you’re outside, wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Another important thing is to skip the makeup. Your skin is sensitive and fresh. By putting on any type of cosmetic product like concealer or foundation basically eliminates all the work your facial has done. You don’t want to clog your pores or skin with anything that could undo the process. Wait at least 5 days to start adding makeup back into your routine.

Besides, your face will be so fresh and bright that you probably won’t even want to wear makeup!

Don’t forget to keep your body hydrated and your face protected to help heal and rejuvenate your skin faster.

Day 2-5: The Healing Process

Your body will start to “heal” itself after the first couple of days. You may still have some after facial redness and you may also see some flakiness, or even small pimples appear on your face. Don’t worry, that's your body expelling the bad from the deeper layers of skin. The flakiness is dead skin falling off as your skin renews itself with fresh, healthy replenished skin.

As tempting as it is, do not touch your face, pop pimples or pull at the flaking skin. You do not want to irritate or agitate your face any further.

At this point, the redness should be minor and almost pink in color.

If your face is inflamed, bright red, or if you have large pus-filled pimples, you should contact your medspa and dermatologist. You may have had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients used in your facial.

Day 6 & Beyond: Smooth, Glowing Skin

Now that it’s been close to a week since you had your facial, you should be seeing the results of the treatment.

You’ll find that your skin is clearer, softer, smoother and rejuvenated. You can ditch the filter on your selfies!

To keep your glowing skin as long as possible make sure to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen everyday, moisturize and continue with monthly/bi-monthly facials!
