long-term hair removal

We offer two amazing options for painless hair removal.

Here’s the side by side.

PicoSecond Laser

How it works: Concentrated light beams at one wavelength are shot into hair follicles. When the pigment in hair follicles absorb the light, the follicle is ideally destroyed.

How many sessions for results: 3-6 sessions. Laser only works on hair in its growth cycle, so several sessions may be needed to get rid of all the unwanted hair.

Why laser? Laser beams are extremely precise, so it can destroy hair follicles of dark, coarse hair without damaging surrounding skin. We recommend picosecond laser hair removal for patients with darker skin tones because the decreased exposure is safer for melanin-rich skin.

What to expect? The hair in the treatment area will be trimmed right before removal. The laser itself may feel like a rubber band — slightly uncomfortable but definitely not painful.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

How it works: IPL shoots light at a range of wavelengths into the skin, penetrating into the dermis and damaging or destroying hair follicles to prevent further hair growth.

How many sessions for results: 5-7 sessions. Like with laser therapy, IPL only works on hair in its growth cycle, and the reduced intensity means more sessions are required for complete hair removal.

Why IPL? IPL is more affordable than laser treatment and treatment times are quicker. Even though IPL may need more sessions per treatment area, it covers more area per treatment session. In comparison, laser therapy would need less sessions per area but covers less area. IPL is not recommended for those with darker skin tones.

What to expect? The hair in the treatment area will be shaved off, and a layer of gel will be applied before treatment. IPL itself is not painful at all, though you will need to wear dark goggles to protect the eyes.
