ipl (Intense pulsed light)

IPL might just be the future of skincare. It has multiple functionalities built in, making skincare easy, painless, and affordable.

+ What does it treat?

IPL has a variety of applications for facial rejuvenation. To list a few: it can reduce age spots, sun damage, freckles, birthmarks, varicose veins, and rosacea. IPL is also used for hair removal. (Learn more about our permanent hair removal options here.) This level of control over treatment is achieved by varying the intensity of light to target unwanted pigment.

+ How does it work?

IPL uses a broad spectrum of visible light wavelengths unlike laser therapy, which consists of targeted and intense light beams. The light energy from IPL targets larger areas of skin than that of laser therapy. It also causes less damage to your skin, penetrating to your dermis (the second layer of your skin). At the dermis level, the light energy will be converted to heat, which destroys the unwanted pigment in your skin. .

+ What should I expect?

IPL is a painless procedure and takes around 20 minutes. Before your treatment, avoid excessive exposure to sun (and if you aren't applying SPF daily, you definitely should!) There may be some residual redness, but it should subside within 10 minutes.

Be sure to consult with your aesthetician about any skin concerns or medications you are taking before starting an IPL treatment! .
